Resolved Question: Looking for rear rack to fit my Raleigh Detour (large wheel, low seat stay)?

My bike Raleight Detour 3.5 pic @ http://www.raleighusa.com/bikes/hybrid/detour-35-11/ has a relatively low seat stay and a big wheel (thus the top of the rear wheel is much higher than the seat stay). I want to buy a rear rack but most of them have 2 short rods connecting between the seat stay and the rack--since the rack is over the top of the wheel, this will not work on my bike. Could someone find a rack for my bike? It must have a rat trap Spring load, and not too expensive, please, $15~$35). Or better, could you point out which ones will work at Amazon.com? Thanks a bunch.

Emptiness is no longer a whisper, Nothingness is only a whimper.’ “Praise our Lord Etoch,” shouted an old man sitting at the gate entrance of the city of Iko, the barren lands of Duke Elias. “Praise our Lord,” said Emperor Egroth, a tall muscular middle age male with long smooth hair, to the old man recognized by an ugly scar across his face. The old man taking good time arose to his feet before Egroth and gave a simple vow of the head. He maintained his weight on a wooden rod to stand on his feet. His left hand rested on his back to support his back from the pain. “Great day, noble gentlemen, would you spare a coin? I have three kids to feed; and there is little gold or silver in these lands,” said the old man. Egroth reach to a pouch at his waist-side and tossed a tiny pouch of silver coins to the old man. The old man smirked and then slowly walks off, barely able to walk; and the wooden rod he used to sustain himself was brittle and the bend on its weight gave the impression that it would snap at any given moment. Egroth’s horse kept on treading down the dirt path to the castle of Duke Elias. “My Lord, these lands are not suited. The earth is dry. Breathing the dirt suffocates me. These are cursed land out to kill us,” spoke Kinsmen, Egroth’s loyal general who rode at his left. “Nonsense. Everything is out to receive a weak little gal such as you. The air is fine. The Um, a giant rat, disgusting creature, was rend into a thousands pieces. They say it was still living breathing until his blood was drained, and its soul was imprisoned into this sword, the power of the root of Mitsu. One touch from this sword makes even a strong man bleed to death. Drink of its blood, and you become a bloody thirsty mun but too weak to eat blood of any man.” “A dreadful curse, I’d say, my emperor.” “It is rumored that the captain of the royal guards of Elias is a legendary swordsman, never touched by the blade of any other mun in war. Resolved Question: Have you done anything like this?

I am an Atheist. I killed a Big rat with an Iron rod when I was 15 years of age, it used to enter the home at nights, don't know how it used do that, but one day I found that it made a hole outside the compound wall, dug a hole from underground and used to enter home through the hole below the sink. When I found it, out of rage I picked an Iron rod and inserted straight through it, the rod went from the one side of it and came through the other side. After that I took it outside, threw the rat away, cleaned the blood on the rod.It sounds weird for me now but I did it. Have you guys done anything like this? Do I sound bad?????

Resolved Question: Chevy 350, unknown miles/Rat Rod. Excessive smoke out oil tube/Compression all 90 psi /won't idle/stalls?

Carbs (3 two barrel 94's), am I looking at a rebuild? Can't figure out the low compression across the board, every at 90 psi and within a pound of each other/roller rockers/brandnew pushrods (yes, length is same). No backfiring (eliminates worn cam?). Color me confused, and not a engine guy by any strech. Ideas most appreciated. Does not idle well (dies after 30 seconds / appears to be flooding judging from plugs) and will die when gear (automatic) is selected. Timing way high but will not run if backed off. Just got this puppy and don't know where to go from here.

Resolved Question: 5-speed & carburetor in an '89 Crown Vic with a 5.0 EFI?

I want to put a 5-speed in my old LTD. I know what's involved in such a swap, but I need to know which transmissions (year, model) will bolt up to my motor without any drilling or machining. Can I use the flywheel from the car? ALSO, I want to change out the EFI for a carburetor, what intakes will fit my EFI heads, and what problems can I expect? i made this question below the presumption that i do not think highly of benz owners. sure you can colour me jealous, but im stipulating that they dont know much about their cars, just their bank account number. that many rat rods or other pure automotive enthuasists know they dont need to spend that nice of money to receive the car they want. that being said, as soon as i saw the sls, my jaw dropped. I immeditely thought of the 300sl and i thought that was a properly pretty car. and i havent used the phase (properly pretty car) in 30 years. despite being so pretty im not a fan of reusing the same parts from other cars. it makes the sls lose some of its unique qualities. (but that is a burden for me alone) im posing this question to be proven wrong. Or we can start a club to crucify every amg owners and reclaim the sls for the people. who's with me?

Resolved Question: 1976 chevy cheyenne 350 valve sizes?

ok, i just picked up a running driving 1976 chevy cheyenne 1/2 ton, pick up for $600. everything is beautiful on it and i plan on turning into a rat rod (body looks brandnew but it's original) and i need to know the valve sizes used in the heads for 1976. i know that in 1971 with the passing of the clean air act, chevy started puting restrictive exhaust manifolds on and the standard was now a 2bbl carb instead of a 4bbl (this has a 2bbl). im almost positive they put smaller valves in the heads as well but im not quite sure what size. i need to be able to know if i can leave the originals on, or if i should buy brandnew heads with bigger vlaves. any help is appreciated, thank you. thank you for the help guys. i already planned on putting a brandnew 670cfm holley 4bbl carb and an edelbrock intake on (no chance of performance with the stock 2bbl)

Resolved Question: How do start my own car show?

I am interested in starting a car show (Hot Rod, Rat Rod, Muscle, stuff like that and maybe open to modern cars and tuners). What every would I need to know to receive one started. I'd like to charge a $10 fee per car and try to have food like hot dogs and hamburgers. Also dash plaques and trophies to be given out. I would like to donate 90-95% of the proceeds to a charity that helps disabled Veterans or Veterans with financial needs; the other5-10% would go to me to help with costs of starting up this event. I am a Veteran myself and have received help from such organizations and thought this would be a way to give back. I am hoping after starting this car show I would know what to expect and how much it would take to keep it running that way I could donate 100% in the future shows.

Hi, i had a white albino rat yesterday, an it was the last one so i had to buy her on her possess. i got her home and put her cage together, to find out they sold us a cage that she could fit threw the bars, iv kept the cage for when she gets bigger. Now im using a big hamster cage for now. well, when i found out the other cage was to big was because she ran in between the bars and was loose in my living room. I know she was shocked and scared, so was i Boise my mom has a Black cat who always brings mice to the window -_-. so it took me half hour to catch my Rat an i put her back in the box, and then let her in the cage im using now. and now its the following day, iv try ed to bond with my rat and shes just to scared to even attempt to move. i gave her some treats to show her im no threat, and she just sniffed it (cereal) then looked away like she was ignoring me on purpose, she wnt even move when i arrive in the room.... its been a couple of hours now, and my rat seems to be moving around abit more since i stroked her back and tail and feat threw the bars. And plus she has a fascination with my dog =/ its like they communicate. my dogs a jack Russel and shes obsessed with hamsters and other tiny rod ants, not because shes a ratter dog by inst inked she never lays a paw on them, shes just really interested. im thinking about letting my rat out to roam and explore my room but im afraid because she will not arrive back if she goes below my bed or draws with her been afraid. and PLUS i think she will bite me out of self defense, and i think they can seance if ur scared or worried??. i really need some edvice guys plz :( i dnt want a timid rat =[

Resolved Question: TBI Chevy 305 swap into a 1959 Mercury Monterey?

Here's the deal, I have a 1959 Monterey with a factory 383... But it's old and almost seized, and 2 barrel carbed, and I want to fix this car up and make it a daily driver year round... I also have a 305 out of a 91 silverado, TBI, with the wiring harness and every that junk, and a spare 700R4 transmission kicking around... I want to install this 305 engine in the car because it's newer, has less than 180000 kms and will be more reliable in the winter than a carbed engine. I'm also thinking of putting in power brakes from a 90's caravan but thats to be dealt with later... I'm just wondering what nice of driveshaft I'd need from the transmission to the rear wheels, because the wheelbase in the monterey is about 127 inches... and the truck this was from is 131 inches, and I'm worried about engine mounts and every that junk too, input is greatly appreciated! Thanks. PS: I'm not really wanting it to become a collectors car, even though it is, I already have a 1962 Ford Galaxie that I dolled up and steer in the summer, I just want this car as a year round machine to haul every of my stuff and friends, I'm not going to doll it up and polish it because it's in a pretty unhappy state, I'm basically turning it into a daily driveable rat rod, so thats why I wanted to go with the chevy 305... But there's a guy selling a tbi 350 that I can receive my hands on if need be, but the 305 should suffice with the 700R4 transmission, it's got at least 210 HP which matches a 312 Lincoln Y-Block, and I don't need it for power, just for driving really. If I wanted power, I'd turn my 88 GMC 1500 into a 383 stroker, every I'm really asking is if it'd be a doable project, and I need the reliability from a TBI on account of our icy canadian winters... up to -40.. PS going to rhino guard the whole bottom of the car as well... lots of potential here.. PS again: I'll be doing almost every the work myself and the help of friends who also know they're way around a drivetrain... I'm just curious as to the driveshaft, what car I can take one out of that will be long enough and with the right spline and every that jazz to fit the 700R4, as well as the rear end, it every has to fit obviously PS again again... As for the brake system thats in the car already, I'd rather go with a newer setup with discs and such, and this car wasn't equipped with power brakes, just standard hydraulic drums... The reason I want to go with brakes from a caravan is because I know more about chrysler set-ups from my good pal and he's going to help out with the process..

Resolved Question: dak rat problem in garage?

i have a question, is this normal, i have a crosman 2100(shoots at 755 fps according to crosman), its was fully pumped and i was using crosman pointed pellets, there was a squirrel in my garage(it keeps coming back, ive already scared it out at least twice), my first shot was from less than 10 feet and hit it in the upper neck/lower head, it ran into a corner where i then shot it twice in the head from less than a foot with the gun fully pumped, the squirrel then ran out and a couple pound metal rod fell and smashed down on its head/neck, the dak rat then continued to try to receive out and died about what seemed like a minute later, is there something that i was doing wrong, i would have liked for it to die on the first shot

Resolved Question: Easiest way to get into rat rods?

I just bought a 1980 Jeep CJ5 several months ago and have been doing every my possess mechanic work with success so far, and I'd like to do more of it. I'm saving up some money and would like to do a rat rod project. Something I can steer and maybe even do some informal dirt track races with my friends. I'm looking for the easiest way to receive into rat rodding...buy something already done, or start buying parts and put them together over the long run? Right now I have a shoestring budget. I'm looking to keep up about $3k and would like to receive started with that amount, but can put in more money after I receive it going. I'm talking rat rods, not hot rods. Resolved Question: Is there a rear wheel drive transmission for the Cadillac 500 cubic inch engine?

I can still find old Eldorados and the 500 was even produced for a few years following the 1973 decline in quality... cheap. I want to stick one in a rust pail rat rod with rear wheel steer if I can find a transmission. I might even fork out a little dough for such a thing. every I've been able to find online is a reference to their use in monster trucks for pulling contests.

I don't know what i want to receive him for v-day. He is 18 and builds rat rods and loves dodge and engines that about sums him up.... we agreed to receive something cheap and limit it to 1-2 things brilliant idea from me....... but idk what to receive him to make him excited. any ideas would be great! esp from a guys perspective thanks =) oh and i wont receive him a stuffed animal or box of chocolates...he doesn't like chocolate anyways......its to fruity to receive him for my taste haha last year i gave him a basket containing a huge bag of peanut mnms, 4 red bulls, and 2 hot wheels that were rat rod and a coup i believe.....

Resolved Question: Anyone ever had this happen to them before?

So, fishing in the community lake with a Rat L trap. Was fishing and felt a difficult strike, so i set the hook. then nothing happened. I tried reeling in some line but nothing happened. thought i'd missed the fish and snagged into a log or something. pulled on my rod a few times trying to receive it free. Then suddenly the drag just SCREAMS for a second and my 7 dollar rattle trap gets lost in some fishes mouth. Anyone?

Resolved Question: Answer to Joahn: Has anyone with natural coarse hair gotten a roller set if so how did it turn out?

Joahn, I tried to post, but somehow deleted and now I cannot re-post. here is the answer. Sorry for the crazy format! Pay no attention to people that tell you that natural hair cannot be rod set! I had my natural hair rod set 2 weeks ago. I received many compliments. It lasted one week; until I washed it. You need a rat tail comb, rods (in the curl size preferred), end papers, water spray bottle, setting lotion, and leave in conditioner. start with a clarifying shampoo to remove residue. Follow with a hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Divide your hair in six parts. De-tangle each section and pin. Carefully roll tiny sections of hair. If the hair dries, re-moisten with water. Sit below a hooded dryer. Carefully unroll each rod. Spritz daily with oil sheen (I use Carol's Daughter Tui Jojoba & Shea Butter Sheen). snooze with a Satin bonnet. It will slowly fall each day. I'll admit, it is time consuming! I won't attempt it again on my possess. I don’t have a hooded dryer and it frizzed. A salon will do it for you, but it will be a little pricey. Good luck!

Since I saw Bush's group of monkeys wearing red ties, doing every the political grand standing, I knew that this was every trumped up by the Cons. They claimed that this was "the greatest case of political corruption in history". Right away the Repube Cons jumped on the bandwaggon and convicted Rod before his trial. I kept reading through the 'evidence' and thought this is weak. Where's 'the greatest case of corruption in history' trumped by the prosecutor. It had political witch hunt written every over it and it stank of a rat. They're already planning on re-trying Rod, but I can tell you one thing, if he's convicted this will open up a can of worms. As the Democrats will also try to use our investigative agencies to "receive even". There are high ranking Republicans who have done much worse political wrangling than Rod...they better wish that Rod is completely acquitted. Perjury is a wastebasket charge, usually pushed when prosecutors have a weak case. George Washington himself could receive convicted of perjury during a long criminal. Everyone will eventually make a mistake, that the Feds will use against you. The point is Rod was NOT convicted of over 20 other charges trumped up by the prosecutor. So they got on lying about a crime that he didn't commit :)

Resolved Question: What does a vehicle need for saftey?

I recently purchased a drag car. I know many things are needed for saftey, but I am not 100% sure on what ones. 1. There is no wiring harness on the car, just wires (Neatly order) running to switches. 2. There is absolutley no wiper set up (I am sure this is mandatory) 3. There is no defrost set up or anything, it was every stripped to reduce weight 4. The speedometers are every set up over the dash, and on or on the hood. 5. I dont have any original seat belts, just 5 point harness+Racing seats I am juse curious to look what I have gotten myself into. It is a 71 Dodge Dart, so it is a classic car and I would only be driving during summer. I am sure there is a Classic car registration or something. I know I will receive the "It every depends on where you live".. I live in Manitoba Canda. But I am sure most guidlines are the same. I have seen rat rods, the sketchiest things ever! on the road. Help me out! Thanks! I know I bought a drag car, I said I bought a drag car you chode. I want to make it road legal obviously. Use your brain.

Resolved Question: 1972 chevy truck k20 brakes and exhaust.?

i have a 1972 chevy truck k20. with power disc/drum brakes. disc front drum back. someone clip my rear brake lines and put water in my brake resevoir. now theres air in every my lines and stuff. how can i receive every the air out. i plugged the back brake line and am now bleeding them from the rear. is there any possibilty to getting every the air out or what. how can i go about doing this the best way. and also is it true what i hear about a sbc engine needing backpressure. then how can hot rods and or rat rods run straight headers. is there anything i can do to my carburetor to gain more hp when i run straight header. like change the jetting or something. please every your information is greatly appreciated and needed. engine is a 02 chevy box engine with a cam and edelbrock 650 cfm carb and edelbrock performer intake manifold. hei ignition by ac delco. and champion spark plugs. and serpentine belt kit. 4 core radiator. o and the truck has no fan and runs 160 degrees every the time.

Voting Question: HELP! I NEED TO GET OUT OF MY APARTMENT LEASE NOW!!?

I just recently moved in my apartment July 1st, and I'm already having a lot of problems with my apt complex. After waiting 2 months for them to receive my apt ready, when I came to move-in, it was a complete disaster. ( not the floor plan i had requested, wood floor was coming up in the laundry room, a big visible hole in the wall that someone tried to paint over, ect. ) I refused to move-in into that apartment so they found me another one. The brandnew apt is much, much smaller, but the floor plan is a lot better than the one they had before. Bad thing is, everyday i keep running into more and more problems. There's a huge dent in my brand brandnew stainless steel freezer door; part of the wall in the laundry room was missing like they had rats chewing on the wall or something; there was no shower curtain rod until i complained and they finally added one; my kitchen light comes on when it wants to; my bedroom light doesnt arrive on at every; the water pressure in my kitchen is so light that i can barely even wash my dishes; ect. ect. ect... [ i can go on for days ] worst part about it every, is that i've told management about my problems several times. I even went as far as contacting the corporate manager. They keep saying they're going to fix every the problems so that i'll be glad but three days have gone by and still nothing. what should i do? i'm at the point now where I just want to move out. Thanks everyone for your responses. blossom, I would be more than glad to fix my lights myself. I've changed the light bulbs, but nothing works. & I shouldn't have to go buy a brandnew faucet for my kitchen. I'm paying this complex way too much money for them to be ignoring me. Geez, i'm 19 years old! My parents are paying almost $800 a month for this 1 bedroom apt, so yes it should be high maintence. I only signed a 6 month lease though. I'll probably just stick it out. I def learned a huge lesson with this being my first apt. You guys are so right! Thanks for everything. I've already taken lots of photos. I'm thinking about walking around my apt & filming as well. It really sucks paying for an apt that I'm never in because of every the problems. My kitchen light doesnt work, my bedroom light doesnt arrive on either. Plus, the lock on my back/ slide door doesnt lock, but there is a stick propped behind it. Man, this was a huge lesson learned, but everything happens for a reason.
